Alloy rims transform how an Alto looks, and on a car this small they are one of the most cost-effective changes you can make. The Alto uses a 4x100 bolt pattern, and the sensible sizes are 12 and 13 inch — 14 is possible but starts to compromise the ride badly on a car with this little suspension travel.

Weight is the thing to watch, and it is the reason a cheap alloy can be a downgrade. An 800cc engine notices unsprung weight in a way a bigger car does not. A heavy cast alloy can genuinely make an Alto feel slower and use marginally more fuel than the steel wheel it replaced.
