In shortComputerised balancing that removes the vibration you feel through the steering wheel or seat at speed, and stops the uneven wear it causes. City Wheels does this at its workshop in I&T Centre, G-10/1, Islamabad, open 24 hours, 7 days a week with no appointment needed. Typical time: 20–30 minutes for four wheels. Price is on request — call or WhatsApp 0333 3996060 for a quote.

Balancing corrects how weight is distributed around a spinning wheel. Even a perfectly made tyre and rim have small variations in mass, and at 100 km/h a wheel turns roughly 15 times per second — so an imbalance of a few grams becomes a force you feel clearly through the steering wheel or the seat.

That vibration is not just uncomfortable. It accelerates wear on the tyre itself, on wheel bearings, on suspension bushes and on steering components. A vibration you have learned to live with is quietly costing you money elsewhere in the car.

The distinction worth knowing: if the vibration comes and goes with speed — usually appearing around 80 km/h and worst somewhere between 90 and 120 — that is balancing. If the car pulls to one side at any speed, that is alignment. We check both, and we will tell you which one you actually need rather than selling you both by default.

Signs to look for

Do you need Wheel Balancing?

If any of these sound like your car, it is worth having us check it.

  • The steering wheel vibrates at a particular speed, usually 80–120 km/h
  • The seat or floor buzzes at speed but the steering wheel is calm (often a rear wheel)
  • The vibration appears at one speed and fades again as you go faster
  • A tyre is wearing in patches or scalloped dips rather than evenly
  • You have just had a puncture repaired or a tyre refitted
  • You have hit a kerb or a deep pothole

Our process

How City Wheels does Wheel Balancing

Every step, and why it matters — so you can tell whether anyone else is skipping one.

  1. 01

    Remove and inspect

Each wheel comes off and is checked for the things that make balancing impossible: a bent rim, a bulge or flat spot in the tyre, or mud and old weights still stuck to the barrel. A buckled rim cannot be balanced, only masked — and we would rather tell you that than sell you weights that fall off.

  2. 02

    Mount and spin

The wheel is centred on the balancer using a cone that locates on the hub bore, then spun up. The machine reports the exact weight needed and the exact angular position on both the inner and outer plane.

  3. 03

    Fit the weights

Clip-on weights for steel rims, adhesive weights hidden inside the barrel for alloys so the finish stays clean. Weight type matters on a good alloy — clip-ons can mark the rim edge.

  4. 04

    Re-spin and verify

The wheel is spun again to confirm it is within tolerance. If the first correction did not land it, we re-measure rather than adding a second weight on top and hoping.

  5. 05

    Refit and torque

Wheels go back on in a star pattern with a calibrated torque wrench, to your car's specified figure. Over-tightening with a rattle gun is the most common cause of warped brake discs, and it is entirely avoidable.

Typically 20–30 minutes for four wheels — and we are open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

I had an excellent experience with CITY WHEELS - TYRE & ALLOY RIMS and would highly recommend them. My tyre burst on the night of 13th August, and since it was around 2 AM, I couldn't find any shop open or a replacement tyre available. I contacted Zeeshan, the owner, and he went above and beyond by personally coming to the shop and opening it specifically to help me. He arranged a replacement tyre, managed the fitting, and even provided complimentary wheel balancing. Everything was handled extremely efficiently and professionally despite the late hour. Really appreciate Zeeshan's dedication and willingness to help when I was genuinely stuck. Excellent customer service and a very positive experience. Highly recommended!

Questions

Wheel Balancing — answered

How do I know if I need wheel balancing or wheel alignment?

Vibration means balancing; pulling means alignment. If the steering wheel shakes at a specific speed and settles again outside that range, the wheels are out of balance. If the car drifts toward one side on a flat road, or the steering wheel sits off-centre when you are going straight, that is alignment. If you have both symptoms, you need both jobs.

How often should wheels be balanced?

Every time a tyre is fitted or refitted, after any puncture repair, and any time you notice a new vibration. Weights can also be knocked off by a kerb or lost over time, so a check every 10,000 km is reasonable even without symptoms.

Is balancing included when I buy tyres from you?

Yes. Fitting, balancing and setting the pressures are included with every set of tyres we sell, new or used. We do not treat them as add-ons, because a tyre that has been fitted but not balanced has not really been fitted.

Why does my car still vibrate after balancing?

Balancing only fixes weight distribution. If vibration persists, the usual causes are a bent rim, a tyre with internal belt damage or a flat spot, a worn wheel bearing, a warped brake disc (this one is felt through the brake pedal), or a worn CV joint. We check for these as part of the job and will tell you what we find rather than balancing it twice.
