In shortProfessional tyre fitting on modern equipment that does not damage rims, including balancing, correct torque and a pressure check. City Wheels does this at its workshop in I&T Centre, G-10/1, Islamabad, open 24 hours, 7 days a week with no appointment needed. Typical time: 30–40 minutes for four tyres. Price is on request — call or WhatsApp 0333 3996060 for a quote.

Fitting a tyre well is not just levering rubber onto a rim. Done badly it damages the bead, marks or bends an alloy, leaves the wheel unbalanced, or over-torques the nuts enough to warp a brake disc. Done properly it is quick, clean and the car drives away better than it arrived.

Fitting, balancing and a pressure check are included free with every set of tyres we sell, new or used. If you have bought tyres elsewhere we will still fit them — we would rather do the job properly than have you take it somewhere that will not.

A practical note that saves people money: if you are only replacing two tyres, the new pair belongs on the rear axle regardless of whether your car is front- or rear-wheel drive. This is not an upsell, it is standard safety practice. A car whose rear tyres let go before the front becomes unstable in a way most drivers cannot correct, whereas understeer at the front is something you can feel coming and drive out of.

Signs to look for

Do you need Tyre Fitting?

If any of these sound like your car, it is worth having us check it.

  • Tread depth is at or below 3 mm — wet grip falls away sharply beyond this point
  • The wear indicator bars are level with the tread surface
  • Cracking, perishing or crazing anywhere on the sidewall
  • A bulge or blister in the sidewall — this needs replacing immediately, not eventually
  • The tyre is more than about six years old, whatever its tread looks like
  • Uneven wear that has gone too far to correct with alignment

Our process

How City Wheels does Tyre Fitting

Every step, and why it matters — so you can tell whether anyone else is skipping one.

  1. 01

    Check the specification

We read the placard inside your driver's door and confirm the size, load index and speed rating before anything comes off the car. If what is currently fitted does not match what the manufacturer specified, we will show you — a surprising number of cars are running the wrong spec because a previous owner bought on price.

  2. 02

    Remove and inspect

With the wheel off we look at the brake discs and pads, the inner sidewall of the old tyre — which is where damage hides — and the rim for buckles or cracks. If something needs your attention we tell you then, with the car on the ramp, not afterwards.

  3. 03

    Mount

Old tyre off, bead seat cleaned of corrosion and old sealant, tyre paste applied, new tyre mounted with the machine's nylon-protected head so the alloy is not marked. Directional and asymmetric tyres are checked for correct rotation and the correct outboard face — fitting one backwards ruins its wet performance entirely.

  4. 04

    Balance

Every wheel goes on the balancer, with adhesive weights hidden inside the barrel on alloys so the finish is untouched.

  5. 05

    Refit, torque and set pressures

Wheels are refitted in a star pattern with a calibrated torque wrench, then all pressures are set cold to the manufacturer's figure. We do the spare too, because it is the one nobody checks until they need it.

Typically 30–40 minutes for four tyres — and we are open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

I had an excellent experience with CITY WHEELS - TYRE & ALLOY RIMS and would highly recommend them. My tyre burst on the night of 13th August, and since it was around 2 AM, I couldn't find any shop open or a replacement tyre available. I contacted Zeeshan, the owner, and he went above and beyond by personally coming to the shop and opening it specifically to help me. He arranged a replacement tyre, managed the fitting, and even provided complimentary wheel balancing. Everything was handled extremely efficiently and professionally despite the late hour. Really appreciate Zeeshan's dedication and willingness to help when I was genuinely stuck. Excellent customer service and a very positive experience. Highly recommended!

Questions

Tyre Fitting — answered

Is tyre fitting free at City Wheels?

Yes — fitting, balancing and pressure setting are included with every set of tyres we sell, new or used. If you bought tyres elsewhere we will still fit them for a modest charge; call 0333 3996060 for the current rate.

Should I replace all four tyres at once?

Ideally yes, because the car behaves most predictably on four matched tyres. If budget only allows two, replace them in pairs on the same axle — never one on its own — and fit the new pair on the rear regardless of which wheels drive the car.

How do I check my tyre's age?

Look for the DOT code on the sidewall. The last four digits are the week and year of manufacture, so 2823 means the 28th week of 2023. Rubber hardens with age whether or not the tyre is used, so a tyre beyond about six years old is approaching the end of its service life even with tread remaining.

What tyre pressure should I run?

Use the figure on the placard inside your driver's door, not the number moulded into the tyre sidewall — that one is the tyre's maximum, not your car's recommendation. Check pressures cold, before driving, because a warm tyre reads several PSI higher and setting it then leaves you under-inflated.
