In shortScheduled tyre rotation that evens out wear across all four positions, plus a full pressure and tread-depth check. City Wheels does this at its workshop in I&T Centre, G-10/1, Islamabad, open 24 hours, 7 days a week with no appointment needed. Typical time: 20–30 minutes. Tyres do not wear evenly across a car. On a front-wheel-drive car — which is most cars in Pakistan — the fronts do the steering, most of the braking and all of the driving, so they wear roughly twice as fast as the rears. Rotating them at intervals evens that out and can add thousands of kilometres to the life of a set.

The rotation pattern depends on your tyres. Standard tyres move front-to-back with a cross; directional tyres can only swap front-to-back on the same side, because reversing their rotation direction destroys their ability to clear water. Asymmetric tyres have a fixed outboard face. Getting this wrong is common and undoes the point of the exercise.

We do a full pressure and tread-depth check at the same time, on all four wheels and the spare. It is a short job and it is the cheapest maintenance there is on a car — underinflation alone is responsible for more premature tyre wear than any other single cause.

What's included

  • All four wheels removed and rotated in the correct pattern for your tyre type
  • Tread depth measured and recorded on every tyre
  • Pressures set cold on all four wheels plus the spare
  • Visual inspection for uneven wear, bulges, cracking and embedded objects
  • Wheels torqued to specification
  • Advice on whether the wear pattern points at an alignment problem

Signs to look for

Do you need Tyre Rotation?

If any of these sound like your car, it is worth having us check it.

  • Front tyres visibly more worn than the rears
  • You have not rotated in the last 10,000 km
  • Increased road noise that has crept up gradually
  • One tyre wearing differently from its pair
  • You are about to take the car on a long trip
  • Fuel consumption has risen with no other explanation

Our process

How City Wheels does Tyre Rotation

Every step, and why it matters — so you can tell whether anyone else is skipping one.

  1. 01

    Identify the tyre type

We check whether your tyres are directional, asymmetric or standard, because that determines which rotation pattern is legal for them. A directional tyre moved to the other side of the car is running backwards and has lost most of its wet performance.

  2. 02

    Measure before moving

Tread depth is measured at the inner, centre and outer of each tyre before anything is moved. The pattern across those three points is what tells us whether you have an alignment problem, an inflation problem, or normal wear.

  3. 03

    Rotate

Wheels are moved in the correct pattern for the tyre type and drivetrain. If one tyre is significantly more worn than the others we will discuss where it should go rather than following the pattern blindly.

  4. 04

Inspect while the wheels are off

With each wheel off we look at the inner sidewall — the one you never see — and at brake pad thickness and disc condition. Costs nothing extra and catches things early.

  5. 05

    Torque and set pressures

Star pattern, calibrated torque wrench, manufacturer's figure. Then all pressures set cold, including the spare.

Typically 20–30 minutes — and we are open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

I had an excellent experience with CITY WHEELS - TYRE & ALLOY RIMS and would highly recommend them. My tyre burst on the night of 13th August, and since it was around 2 AM, I couldn't find any shop open or a replacement tyre available. I contacted Zeeshan, the owner, and he went above and beyond by personally coming to the shop and opening it specifically to help me. He arranged a replacement tyre, managed the fitting, and even provided complimentary wheel balancing. Everything was handled extremely efficiently and professionally despite the late hour. Really appreciate Zeeshan's dedication and willingness to help when I was genuinely stuck. Excellent customer service and a very positive experience. Highly recommended!

Questions

Tyre Rotation — answered

How often should tyres be rotated?

Every 8,000 to 10,000 km is a good interval for most cars, or whenever you notice the fronts pulling ahead of the rears in wear. On a front-wheel-drive car the fronts typically wear about twice as fast, so rotating on schedule is what lets all four reach the end of their life together.

Can directional tyres be rotated?

Yes, but only front-to-back on the same side of the car. A directional tyre has a tread pattern designed to clear water in one rotation direction; swapping it to the other side reverses that and significantly reduces wet grip. Look for the arrow on the sidewall — if it is there, the tyre is directional.

Does rotation fix uneven wear?

It evens out the normal difference between driven and undriven wheels. It does not fix wear caused by bad alignment or wrong pressures — that will simply continue in the new position. If we see a wear pattern that points at geometry, we will tell you, because rotating without fixing the cause just spreads the damage around.

Do you check tyre pressure for free?

Yes, any time, whether or not you are buying anything. It takes two minutes and it is the single most cost-effective thing anyone can do for tyre life and safety. Just pull in.
