Tyres for Suzuki Alto

The Suzuki Alto runs 145/70 R12 as standard, and a lot of owners move to 155/65 R13 for a slightly wider contact patch and a better selection of tyres. Both are in stock here, in new and in inspected used sets.

On a car this light, the temptation is to buy purely on price — and up to a point that is reasonable, because an 800cc car never asks a tyre to do very much. Where it stops being reasonable is wet braking. The Alto is light enough that a poor compound will lock a wheel on a wet road far more readily than the same tyre would on a heavier car, and that is the scenario where the difference between a cheap tyre and a decent one is measured in metres.

Our practical advice for an Alto is to replace all four together with a decent mid-range tyre rather than two at a time with the cheapest available. The car tracks noticeably straighter on a matched set, and because the tyres are small the total cost of doing it properly is genuinely modest.
