Yokohama Tyres

Yokohama has a long-standing reputation among drivers who care about how a car feels rather than just how long the tyre lasts. Its ranges tend to favour steering response and feedback — you notice it most in the first few degrees of steering input, where the car reacts more immediately than it does on a comfort-biased tyre.

That makes it a natural fit for cars like the Civic, the Altis and sportier imported sedans, particularly on the 16- and 17-inch sizes. It is less obviously the right answer for a small city car where the driver's priority is a quiet, soft ride and the lowest possible running cost — there, the extra precision is something you pay for and rarely use.

The honest trade-off with a more responsive compound is usually tread life and a little more road noise. Nothing dramatic, but if you are coming from a soft touring tyre you will hear the difference on coarse tarmac. Whether that matters is a question of what you value, and it is worth being clear with yourself about it before spending premium money. We stock Yokohama alongside Bridgestone and Dunlop in the overlapping sizes so you can compare specifications properly. Fitting, balancing and an alignment check come with every set we sell, at any hour — we are open 24 hours.
