Tyres for Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner and its Hilux Revo sibling run 265/65 R17 with a load index around 112 — 1,120 kg per tyre. These are heavy vehicles that get used heavily, and the tyre specification is not a suggestion.

We will not fit an under-rated tyre to one of these. It is the single most common dangerous shortcut we see, usually because a customer has been quoted a much lower price elsewhere for a tyre in the right size but the wrong rating. At this weight, on a hot motorway, with a load in the back, the failure mode is a blowout rather than a slow leak. If you have been quoted something notably cheap, bring us the spec and we will tell you honestly whether it is a bargain or a different product.

For compound, the split is genuine. If the vehicle works — site access, gravel, unmade roads — an all-terrain with a reinforced sidewall is the right tool and the noise is the price of the job. If it is a family Fortuner on tarmac, a highway-terrain is quieter, more economical, better in rain and will last considerably longer. We carry both, our stock turns over quickly so DOT dates are current, and we will show you the date without being asked. Fitting, balancing and alignment check included.
