The Honda Civic uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, which is one of the most common patterns in the world and means the choice of alloy rims is genuinely wide. The two numbers that actually decide whether a rim fits are the bolt pattern and the offset — and offset is the one people get wrong.

Offset (marked ET) is how far the mounting face sits from the rim's centreline. Fit a rim with too little offset and the wheel sits proud of the arch, which looks aggressive but loads the wheel bearing in a way it was not designed for and can foul the arch liner at full lock. The other consideration is size.
